New Zealand indie rock legends, The Bats, have been focusing on recording new music and are excited to announce their 11th full-length album, ‘Corner Coming Up,’ which will be released on October 17th through Flying Nun Records. The band features Robert Scott, Kaye Woodward, Paul Kean, and Malcolm Grant, beloved figures in indie rock from Aotearoa. Since starting out in Christchurch in 1982, The Bats have cultivated a loyal following worldwide and are cherished as one of New Zealand’s most enduring musical exports. Their sound beautifully balances bittersweet melodies with a simple, hypnotic charm, creating songs that stay with you long after the music stops. This latest album captures a familiar yet fresh feeling that resonates deeply with fans who adore their fuzzy, heartfelt tunes. Over more than 40 years, and now with album number 11, The Bats have stayed true to their roots, consistently crafting timeless music that continues to connect with both longtime supporters and newcomers alike. ‘Corner Coming Up’ was recorded at Chicks Studio in Port Chalmers by the legendary Tex Houston from Flying Nun.
